Based at Elvington Airfield, adjacent to the Yorkshire Air Museum and five miles south east of the City of York, York Landyacht Club is currently the only British Landsailing airfield-based club in the UK. The site has one of the largest runways in Europe - two miles of smooth tarmac with a huge square pan area and various service roads, a runway so long that it was designated an emergency landing site for both Concord and the Space Shuttle. Pilots will enjoy the unique experience of sailing in the shadow of the Victor Tanker  (one of the major exhibits of the Air Museum) which sits overlooking the eastern end of the runway. Members sail various types of yacht: miniyachts, Blokart, Xsail, Class 3, Class 5 and Standart.

Situated only 5 minutes drive from Grimston Bar Park & Ride, the club is in an ideal position if you want to drop the family off to enjoy a day out in York while you get to grips with the exhilarating sport of landyachting!

If you have just bought or are looking to buy a land yacht then this is a great place to sail, you can get the best from your yacht by sailing with other club members, obtain tips on yacht set up, sailing techniques and training for race events.

We also offer trial sessions, training and instruction for all levels of experience.
